Winter Elopement in Bozeman, Montana
Bozeman is filled with many beautiful locations, but my favorite spot for an elopement in the area is definitely Hyalite Canyon. The recreation site offers a variety of backdrops, from tall pines, to the reservoir with incredible mountain views, waterfalls to hike to, and endless trails for privacy. The area is accessible year-round, which gives those couples looking for a winter location the perfect option! There is even a pavilion, a rustic cabin you can rent, public bathrooms, fire pits, and grills to have a celebration after your ceremony! If you are looking for a diverse area with easily accessible views that will blow you away, Hyalite is by far the best option for your Bozeman, Montana elopement.
Tascha + Michael
We headed into the Canyon on a beautiful, sunny October day for Tascha and Michael’s portraits. The weather in Montana can be quite unpredictable, with higher elevations getting snow long before winter. Hyalite had a beautiful covering of snow, but was plenty warm enough to explore for the day! From fun wildlife themed stamps, to the Field Books for vows, this simple, but beautiful elopement had all the Montana charm in the details.
Vows and rings were exchanged in a private and short ceremony on the water’s edge. Montana ceremonies require very little, and don’t even need witnesses! Did you know that I am not only a wedding and elopement photographer, but certified to perform your legal ceremony as well?
The area was empty, aside from an eagle flying overhead, giving us a private and quiet ceremony. There are so many gorgeous options for ceremony sites in Hyalite, many large enough for guests!
After some additional fun portraits along the reservoir, we explored the area, wandering around to higher ground for some epic viewpoints. Although there are many trails and additional parts of the canyon to check out, we stayed in one area to make the most out of the shorter day. Hyalite is a really wonderful place for elopement days with less coverage, as you can get a variety of landscapes in a short amount of time. There are many pull-offs and areas all along the water that only take a few minutes to reach!
